Medical Practice - London
HM is a medium sized practice in central London. In January 2002, with the business specialising in an area that was booming, they wished to capitalise on this new wave of interest and increase the number of doctors within their practice. However they had limited space available.
HM investigated renting additional space to accommodate three more doctors, as well as the necessary support staff. The Office Administrator contacted OutSec. He had been told by a friend that the quality of the OutSec work was superb and, more importantly, that this new trend of outsourcing typing in the medical profession was proving immensely successful offering more flexibility for doctors than was traditionally possible with audio transcription. A representative from OutSec visited the practice the next day providing a complimentary assessment of the way HM had operated previously and outlining the space and, additional cost savings that could be achieved by streamlining staff and outsourcing the majority of their typing requirements. OutSec was compatible with various Medical Case Management programmes and OutSec organised a complete review of document management workflow practices.
The practice did not have to move premises. By outsourcing 40% of their typing and offering voluntary redundancy packets to current members of staff, they saved 75% of the anticipated costs involved in renting additional office space as well as 25% of costs earmarked for the additional staff.
The one-to-one medical secretaries that were assigned by OutSec now handle an average of 240 reports per week on top of general correspondence. The installation of digital voice recording combined with outsourcing has resulted in substantial savings as well as increased efficiency and heightened awareness of how technology can improve the workplace. "An office without walls is a viable proposition for any company with internet access and OutSec delivers on time, every time", said the head of the practice.
