We are very proud of our team. They manage their own teams of remote typists in various sectors from areas around the globe. They are all incredible people and we would like to introduce them to you.
Vanessa Phillips – Managing Director
Vanessa worked for Dillon Read in the City of London for 7 years in the 1980s on the Eurobond desk before leaving
to start a financial training company. She was then recruited to work as PA to several FTSE chairmen before leaving to get
married and start a family. A husband and 3 children later she founded OutSec from her farmhouse in Norfolk. Her unique
experience as a top secretary qualified her to understand the requirements of clients and helped establish the high standards
and working practices instilled in OutSec staff and typists. Her entrepreneurial flair and boundless energy is channelled
into driving OutSec forward and making it the premier outsourced typing company in the UK. OutSec is the very personification
of Vanessa. When not working (which is very rare), the dogs, cats and children take precedence.
Richard Phillips – Operations Director
After Economics at Exeter University and further studies at The London Business School, Richard finally got a real job in the
City of London as a merchant banker from 1984 until 1995. He was one of the first traders in off-balance-sheet futures and options
working for SG Warburg merchant bank. In 1995 he left the City to set up a mail-order catalogue company which he sold in 1998.
He then moved to Norfolk so that his children could grow up in the countryside and fall out of apple trees. He has excellent technical
understanding of the complexities of computer systems and worked on developing FileManager. A strong marketing and trading background
combined with practical experience of technical issues means he brings a valuable set of skills to OutSec. When not at his desk or
speaking at a conference, he likes to drive old cars quite fast in straight lines.
Tracey Rowe – Office Manager and Head of the Property Department
Tracey joined OutSec in 2002 bringing with her a wealth of experience as a PA to a Chartered Building Surveyor as well as helping to
run her family’s building and property management company. She was looking for a challenging career with job satisfaction and being
Office Manager was a rapid and natural progression at OutSec. Tracey focuses on providing the highest standards of administrative
and organisational skills for the company and is equally popular with both clients and home workers. She is a member of staff that
we can honestly say is indispensable! When we give her time off for good behaviour her hobbies are sailing and travelling with her
husband and two sons.
Tracy Cole – Head of the Interview and Financial Department
Tracy (or TC as she is known) is an import from London, where she worked for a number of City law firms in various roles, including
PA to the Managing Partner of an international practice, prior to relocating back to her roots in deepest Norfolk. Her extensive
legal background has allowed her to develop the legal department rapidly (along with colleague Samantha Pike) since joining OutSec in 2003.
Tracy is now focussing her attentions on the challenge of managing our rapidly expanding interview department. Her excellent sense
of humour, coupled with an infectious laugh, can often be heard at monthly meetings. The office is a quieter place when Tracy is on
holiday. When she is allowed out, Tracy spends her free time with her partner of many years and their young daughter.
Patty Street – Head of the Inventory Department
Patty is based in Texas, USA and has been running our inventory department right from 1999. She was one of the very first online
secretaries from outside the UK to become a member of OutSec and it was clear that she had huge talent. Her experience of transcription
is huge and her familiarity with Microsoft Word is immense. Typing UK inventories for 7 years has given her an encyclopaedic knowledge
of street names that would rival a London cab driver. Her support and loyalty to OutSec are beyond price. Her clients know she is totally
dependable and she has become an invaluable asset to the inventory industry in the UK. She has three daughters, one of whom is now working
with OutSec too.
Sam Pike - Head of the Legal Department
Sam is Legal Department Head and she runs the legal department from France where she now lives. A 20-year secretarial career
in London started in banking with Robert Fleming and ended as a PA in the City with a top legal firm. After a stint as a home-based typist,
Sam made the transition to Head of Department. She often makes other members of staff jealous with her wonderful
French weather forecasts, particularly when it is pouring with rain in Norfolk. She now lives the good life in the heart of the Pyrenees
Orientales but is forced to join us at Head Office with an umbrella for meetings a few times a year.
Liz Parlett - Head of the Estate Agency Department
Liz has the responsibility of looking after the estate agency and property surveying clients and works closely with Tracey Rowe. Liz has considerable experience within the public sector, having worked as a PA within the NHS for many years.
She has also worked within the further education sector.
When not working, she enjoys gardening and travelling. She keeps fit by doing yoga and swimming. She is currently attempting to wear out the recently purchased OutSec electric running machine during her lunchtime.
Jo Rowe - Property Department
Jo is the latest addition to the Norfolk Head Office team. She has the responsibility of supporting the estate agency and property surveying clients and works closely with Tracey Rowe and Liz Parlett. A spell in a local legal firm and property company furnishes her with all the experience necessary to deal with her young twins as well as anything the office can throw at her.
